Global Engagement Spotlight: Moumita Roy

It’s time for another student spotlight from LSU’s global community! Moumita Roy is pursuing a master's degree in mass communication at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication. Moumita aspires to use the skills she’s gaining in her program to advocate for marginalized communities and contribute to positive social change.

Moumita’s dedication to advocacy and social impact is evident in her work on LSU’s campus. She currently holds leadership roles in the LSU Student Government and the Bangladeshi Students' Association (BSA), acts as a student representative on the LSU Faculty Senate Internationalization Committee, and closely works with the Global Community Center to collaborate on events and activities for international and non-traditional students. Earlier this year, her dedication and contributions were recognized with the LSU Unsung Hero Award. 

Originally from Bangladesh, Moumita chose to attend LSU because of its highly ranked communication and journalism programs. She says, “My decision to join LSU feels even more correct when I witness the passion of the Manship faculties to ensure the success of every student.” Moumita says that this support and the feeling of community on campus has helped LSU feel like a home away from home.
